1. Data We Collect
Account details (name, email), device identifiers for push notifications, support messages you submit, voice recordings and chat messages you choose to send, and learning progress stored on our servers.
2. How We Use Data
To operate the app, deliver pronunciation feedback, personalize lessons, provide customer support, send service notifications, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
3. Third-Party AI & Voice Processing
With your in-app consent, Lahja sends selected data from your device to our servers (api.lahja.app), which may process it using contracted third-party providers: Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini) for AI Tutor conversations; Google Cloud Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech for transcription and reference audio; SpeechAce and/or Microsoft Azure Speech for pronunciation scoring; and optionally Amazon Polly or ElevenLabs for lesson reference audio (lesson text only). Data sent may include voice recordings, chat messages, lesson context, accent preference, scores, and your user ID linked to your account. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to deliver the requested services.
4. In-App Consent
Before your voice or chat data is sent to third-party AI processors, the app asks for your permission and explains what data is sent and who receives it. You may decline; core non-AI features may still be available, but AI Tutor and voice scoring require consent.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share with service providers under strict agreements or when required by law.
6. Your Rights
You may access, correct, delete, or export your data, and object to certain processing where applicable. You can delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete account.
7. Data Retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or legal obligations. Transaction records required for billing compliance may be retained after account deletion in anonymized form.
8. Children
Lahja is not intended for children under 13 (or higher local age). We delete such accounts when discovered.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no method is 100% secure.
10. International Transfers
Where data moves across borders, we use appropriate safeguards such as contractual clauses.
