Terms of Use (EULA)

1. Agreement & Eligibility
By creating an account or using Lahja, you agree to these Terms, which form a binding End User License Agreement (EULA) between you and Lahja. You confirm you are at least 13 years old, or older where your local law requires. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. License to Use
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Lahja app and its content for your own language learning. You may not resell, sublicense, or share access to your account.
3. Lahja Pro — Auto-Renewing Subscriptions
Lahja offers an optional paid plan, Lahja Pro, sold as an auto-renewing subscription in two lengths: Lahja Pro Monthly, billed every month, and Lahja Pro Annual, billed every twelve months. Current pricing is USD 9.99 per month and USD 80.00 per year; the exact price, billing period and currency that apply to you are always displayed on the purchase screen before you confirm, and that displayed price governs. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. Payment is charged to your chosen payment method at confirmation of purchase and again at the start of each renewal period. Applicable taxes may be added.
4. Complimentary Pro Access
Eligible users may receive 7 days of complimentary Lahja Pro access without entering a payment method. This complimentary access is separate from a paid subscription, does not automatically convert into a subscription, and does not cause a charge when it ends. After it expires, the account returns to the Free plan unless the user separately chooses and confirms a paid subscription.
5. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until that date and are not charged again afterwards. Cancelling does not retroactively refund the period already paid for. If you subscribed through an app store, you must cancel in that store's subscription settings; we cannot cancel a store subscription on your behalf. If you subscribed directly through our payment processor, you can cancel from Manage Subscription in the app or on the website. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
6. Refunds
Where we process the payment directly, you may request a refund within 7 days of a charge by emailing info@lahja.app. Purchases made through an app marketplace are governed by that marketplace's refund policy and must be requested from the marketplace, not from us. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under applicable consumer law.
7. Payments & Processors
Payments are handled by Stripe for direct purchases or by the app marketplace through which an in-app purchase is made. Lahja does not receive or store your full card details. Your use of a payment processor or marketplace is also subject to its terms.
8. Price Changes
We may change subscription prices. Any change applies from your next billing period, and we will give you reasonable advance notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not accept a new price, cancel before the change applies.
9. Acceptable Use
Do not copy, distribute, reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the service, attempt to bypass access controls or usage limits, or upload harmful, unlawful, or infringing content. We may suspend accounts that do.
10. Content & Feedback
You retain rights to the content you submit, including your voice recordings. You grant Lahja a license to process and use it to operate, support and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you.
11. Service Availability & Changes
We may add, change, or discontinue features. We aim to give notice of material changes that reduce what a paid plan includes. The service is delivered over the internet and may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided 'as is' and 'as available', without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. Pronunciation scoring and AI feedback are automated aids, not certified language assessment, and we do not guarantee any specific learning outcome.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lahja is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from within the app; deleting your account does not by itself cancel a subscription bought through an app store, which must be cancelled in that store.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where required, notify you. Continuing to use Lahja after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict of law rules, and without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
